Dog Cupcake Recipe
We all know the huge popularity these delicious muffin-shaped treats have gained, filled with fruit, jam, chocolate, cream, or any other ingredient adding an extra touch of flavor.
However, our dogs can't, or rather shouldn't, eat many of those ingredients because they're harmful to their health. That's why we've decided to show you how to make dog-safe cupcakes with a simple recipe.
How to Make Meat Cupcakes
With this simple recipe, we can make a good batch of dog cupcakes with meat, choosing chicken or beef as we like, based on what our dog likes best.
Let's look step by step at how to make these delicious doggy cupcakes, the ingredients needed, and how we should give them to our dogs. The first thing we need to do is check we have all the necessary ingredients:
- 100 grams of chicken or beef (no skin or bones)
- 150 grams of whole wheat flour
- Peanut butter with no additives (no salt)
- A couple of fresh hen eggs
- A thimble of olive or sunflower oil
- Half a plain yogurt (optional)
Once we have all the ingredients, we'll start preparing the batter, so we'll need a deep bowl or pot. In the chosen bowl, we'll crack in the eggs and beat them, then add the oil while we keep mixing.
Once we have the egg and oil mixture ready, we'll add the whole wheat flour gradually while we keep stirring. To prevent lumps, it's best to sift the flour (put it in a strainer and tap it so it falls slowly and finely). This will give us a thick batter we'll use as a base.
Optional Ingredients
Yogurt is an optional ingredient — dogs can eat plain yogurt with no issues since it contains no lactose, though for some it loosens their stomach a bit. That's why yogurt should only be added if we know it doesn't upset our dog.
On the other hand, we need to boil the chicken or beef in unsalted water until it takes on a bit of color (meat color usually turns whiter when boiled). Then we drain the water and finely chop the meat, making it into many small pieces.
Mix the chopped meat pieces with the batter we'd prepared and set aside earlier, so they're well mixed. Grab the cupcake molds and coat them with peanut butter, so when they're baked the batter won't stick to the molds.

Depending on the mold we're using, the cupcakes will come out in classic muffin shape or shaped like dog paws or even bones. Choose whichever mold you like best.
Heat the oven to two hundred degrees, fill the cupcake molds with the batter we've prepared, and put them in the oven for thirty or forty minutes. To know when they're ready, poke a cupcake with a fork, and if it comes out clean (with no batter residue), they're ready.
How Should I Give the Cupcakes to My Dog?
We need to wait for the dog cupcakes to have cooled completely — never give one to your dog straight from the oven, since they're very impatient and could burn themselves trying to eat it right away.
The cupcakes are simply a supplement, a treat. You should never feed your dog only cupcakes. Obviously, if you give it two or three, you don't need to give it the corresponding kibble portion... but don't use the cupcakes on an ongoing/daily basis.
Just as happens with humans, dogs can also be allergic to some of the ingredients used. If you notice an adverse reaction in your dog, remove any leftover cupcake and check with your vet. Most dogs eat them with no problems, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
And remember, cupcakes contain carbs and fat from the flour and butter used, meaning it's a fattening product. If you overdo it, your dog may become overweight, so we should only use them on special occasions. Another option to surprise your dog is making it a delicious dog ice cream.
