Many years have passed since the Gosbi company was founded in 2003, long enough for it to become known internationally as a benchmark brand in dog food.

We are going to assess some of their products and share our own conclusions; we will see which are the best ranges and show you the reviews gathered from across the web, as well as our own.

Varieties of Gosbi Dog Kibble

Within the GOSBI canine food brand we find a wide range of options, which vary in quality depending on which we choose.

Some of these ranges are not ones we would use with our own dogs personally; others, however, we would. Let's look at what their ranges are and what makes the difference between them.

• Exclusive Grain Free: Based on its ingredients, this is the brand's top range. The one offering the highest nutritional quality in its recipes.
• Exclusive by Gosbi: Almost on a par with the previous one in terms of quality, with the difference that this range does contain grains (and plenty of them).
• Original by Gosbi: This seems a little below Exclusive in terms of ingredients to us, mainly for not clearly specifying what type of meat they use.
• Life by Gosbi: This is without doubt Gosbi's budget range, and it shows: its ingredients are not the most advisable, since it does not use high-quality ingredients but meals and derivatives instead.
• Fresko by Gosbi: A range of wet food so our dogs can enjoy fresh food. We liked this range a great deal, though given its composition it cannot be considered suitable for everyday use.

Which Is the Best Gosbi Variety?

Every dog has their own "best variety", since each one has their own nutritional needs; this means the range that might be considered the best for our dogs could differ a great deal from the one your dog actually needs.

Having gone through every range, we have a very clear view on Gosbi: Exclusive Grain Free Adult Fish struck us as the most complete and healthy, nutritionally speaking.

Other varieties in the same range, and other lower ranges, are advisable too.

Our View on Gosbi Dog Food

Knowing that dogs are carnivores and, as such, their main food source should be high-quality meat, we have gone on to assess the amounts and quality of the meat products used in their ranges.

Overall, our view of Gosbi dog kibble is good. This is a brand that offers more affordable ranges, and correspondingly tighter quality, alongside higher-quality ranges that are, correspondingly, a little more expensive.

Analysis of Gosbi Dog Kibble

Under Spanish law, dog food labels have to show their ingredients in order from largest to smallest amount, so that the majority ingredient has to be listed first.

This law also opens the door to plenty of marketing tricks, though, since it does not clearly specify how the ingredients have to be referred to.

This is without doubt a good-quality dog kibble, with a high percentage of high-quality protein (salmon and dehydrated fish) as well as fruit and vegetables that are highly recommended in canine nutrition.

Our view of Gosbi's Grain Free range is very good, but this particular product strikes us as excellent. We would without doubt feed our own dogs this with no concerns whatsoever (healthy dogs with no intolerances or health problems requiring a specific diet).

What is more, being made with fish and containing plenty of omega fatty acids, this product will help improve the shine and condition of the dog's coat and skin.

Analysis of the Original Adult Variety

Going down to Gosbi's Original range, we have seen how the quality of its varieties drops off. In this example we see it is not specified whether it is chicken meal, by-products or fresh meat — they simply put "protein", which already raises suspicions of lower quality.

On top of containing 23% maize we have to add the percentage of rice, which is also not disclosed. Rice is a high-quality grain, whereas maize has low biological value in a dog's nutrition. It is used more as filler.

In this case we would not feed our dogs this product, since it is clearly of lower quality and is not transparent about its ingredients.

The order of ingredient quality is fresh meat / dehydrated meat / meals / by-products and derivatives. So even with 24% chicken meal, the quality of this product leaves room for improvement.

Maize meal, along with rice and wheat, is our biggest concern here, since together they represent an entirely unnecessary excess of grains. This tells us this is a product with plenty of room for improvement, always in our view.

Conclusions

In our view, this is a dog food brand offering varieties suited to every budget, with the most affordable varieties being the ones showing the poorest quality in their ingredients.

And the more expensive varieties, financially speaking, being the ones with the best composition. This is obviously a brand offering some high-quality varieties, a world away from the far-from-advisable supermarket brands such as Compy dog kibble.
