Today we are going to look at one of the dog and cat food brands that catches our attention most for its high quality and moderate price, thanks to selling directly to customers with no middlemen. This is, in our view, the brand with the best value for money, and yes, we are talking about NFNatcane.

Why Do We Like NFNatcane?

We could give you a well-grounded speech on the importance of nutrient balance and the quality of the composition, since our team includes several vets, many of them specialising in nutrition. But so as not to bore anyone, we will boil it down to what we consider its strong points:

One of the strong points we see in their ranges, both Health and Gourmet, is that the first ingredient is always meat or fish, and that these are hydrolysed on top of that. The hydrolysis process means our dog or cat can absorb the nutrients better and the risk of intolerance is reduced. It is an expensive process for manufacturers, but a highly beneficial one for consumers.

The combination of high-quality ingredients is another of its strong points; being a domestic (Spanish) company, it is required to go through rigorous quality controls.

Great Palatability

Flavour matters a great deal too, to stop our dog or cat getting bored of their kibble within days. So a brand that pays attention to details like this is a great brand.

What About Analysing Its Ranges?

Another thing we love about this brand is its transparency; in every single one of its ranges they set out the ingredients they use. Remembering that the first ingredient is always the most abundant, it is well worth it being meat or fish (quality animal protein).

We could choose any of them, from their Health or Gourmet range. In this case, as an example, we are going to examine Small Gourmet, a range specially developed for small adult dogs. Naturally, with a kibble size matched to their size.

Let's get to the important part, composition:

• Min 42% hydrolysed meats (chicken and lamb) and hydrolysed fish (salmon and trout), brown rice (min 23%), duck fat, fruit and vegetables, salmon oil rich in fatty acids, brewer's yeast (rich in vitamin B), egg, chicken liver (hydrolysed), natural flavourings, chondroprotectants, probiotics and prebiotics, mannan-oligosaccharides, coniferous plants, fructo-oligosaccharides, natural antioxidants.

From what is set out above, simply seeing that the first ingredients are meats and fish, we can already see that this is a high-quality range. It also includes variety, worth bearing in mind for dogs with refined tastes.

Rice as a carbohydrate source is, for those who don't know, one of the best carbohydrate sources for dogs (grain-free kibbles generally contain more legumes to serve that same purpose). Rice is ideal; what we should always avoid is maize or wheat, for their low nutritional value.

Duck fat to boost the flavour even further, excellent. Fruit and vegetables that provide minerals, vitamins and fibre. Salmon oil (rich in omega fatty acids), chondroprotectants (ideal for looking after their joints), pre- and probiotics to keep their microbiota (gut flora) healthy, antioxidants and natural flavourings… in short, a perfect score for the composition.

Our Personal View on NFNatcane
