How Much Kibble Does a Chihuahua Eat Daily?
Due to its small size, the cost of caring for it is also small, since compared to other breeds, it barely eats — although that doesn't mean we shouldn't feed it well.
It's important to know how much we should give our Chihuahua each day, plan its ration, and split it between the different feedings we give it.

How Much Kibble Does a Chihuahua Puppy Eat?
Chihuahua puppies are simply adorable, though very fragile due to their size. It's important to choose food specific to mini breed puppies, so the kibble size is suited to their mouth.
Puppies never stop growing, so it's important to weigh our little Chihuahua every month and adjust its daily ration.
Generally, puppy food contains more calories than adult dog food, so pay attention to the manufacturer's recommendations on the kibble bag. Here's a reference table based on the dog's age in months and weight:
Months old 1 kilo of weight 2 kilos of weight 3 kilos of weight 2 23 g. 49 g. 65 g. 3 32 g. 54 g. 75 g. 4 33 g. 56 g. 80 g. 5 33 g. 55 g. 80 g. 6 28 g. 50 g. 70 g. 7 24 g. 45 g. 65 g. 8 24 g. 40 g. 65 g.So a five-month-old puppy weighing two kilos should eat fifty-five grams of small-breed puppy food per day. It's recommended to split this amount across the three or four daily feedings we give it.
Each manufacturer uses its own recommendation table — don't forget to check your kibble brand's table.
How Much Does an Adult Chihuahua Eat?
The recommended food amount for an adult Chihuahua is different from a puppy's, since adult dog food generally doesn't contain as many calories, and because adults are no longer growing, so they don't need as many nutrients.
Remembering that Chihuahuas aren't dogs we can exercise a lot due to their size, we have two options: dogs with low physical activity, that barely leave the house and don't go on walks, and dogs with normal physical activity, which go on two or three walks a day.
This is the recommended food amount for an adult Chihuahua based on its daily exercise:
Activity 1 kilo 2 kilos 3 kilos 3.5 kilos Low 23 g. 40 g. 53 g. 60 g. Normal 27 g. 45 g. 60 g. 65 g.Remember to check your dog food manufacturer's recommended amount table, especially if you use Light food.
Does an Elderly Chihuahua Eat the Same Portion as an Adult?
Yes and no — elderly dogs can eat the same amount of food as an adult dog, but we should switch their adult dog food for one specific for senior/elderly dogs.
This is because elderly dogs barely burn calories, and food formulated specifically for them contains fewer calories and more joint and bone protectants.
So we can keep the same daily amount in grams we gave them as adults, but switch their food from regular to "senior" or "elderly."
